CLASS 5A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Fort Dodge 7, Bettendorf 0
Jalen Adams limited the Bulldogs to two hits while striking out eight in seven innings as the top-ranked Dodgers (27-3) advanced.
Adams' two-run homer got Fort Dodge on the board in the bottom of the third. Chloe Wertz was 2-for-2 with a two-run single in the fourth and Haley Wills added a two-RBI double in the fifth.
No. 6 Ankeny Centennial 5, No. 4 Waukee 2
Centennial (22-8) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to break a 2-2 tie and knock off Waukee (23-5).
Waukee took a 2-0 lead in the first, but Ella Schulz tied it in the sixth with a home run that bounced off an outfielder's glove and over the fence. Mackenzie James scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the seventh.
No. 2 Cedar Rapids Kennedy 10, No. 9 Pleasant Valley 4
Pleasant Valley (17-7) became the first team to score on Kennedy (24-1) star pitcher Kaylin Kinney this season with three runs, but the Cougars scored six runs in the sixth to pull away to the semifinals.
Kinney hit the first pitch she saw over the center-field wall to give Kennedy a 1-0 lead in the first and later added a two-RBI single. Home runs from Keaton Gerber (solo) and Mya Dodge (2-run) made it 4-0 after three.

No. 8 Muscatine 3, No. 3 West Des Moines Valley 1
After beating No. 5 Iowa City High in the regional finals, Muscatine (19-2) knocked off a higher-ranked foe for the second straight round, this time stopping defending state champion Valley (23-5).
Kyleia Salyears was 2-for-4 and brought in two runs for the Muskies, including an RBI double in the first and the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice in the fifth.
CLASS 4A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Carlisle 5, Le Mars 0
The Wildcats (19-3) scored five runs in the first two innings — three on sacrifice bunts — and held the Bulldogs (14-6) to just two hits in a shutout win.
Molly Hoekstra struck out five in five innings and Lexxi Link pitched two hitless innings with four strikeouts. Le Mars committed three errors.
No. 5 North Scott 11, No. 7 Charles City 0 (5 innings)
The Lancers (17-9) had 11 hits and took advantage of five Charles City (13-4) errors to advance to the semifinals. North Scott will face Carlisle in a rematch of last year's 4A state championship game, won 1-0 by the Wildcats.
Sam Lee was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and No. 9 hittier Kyleigh Westlin went 2-for-3 and drove in three.
No. 10 Winterset 7, No. 2 West Delaware 4
Natalie Drake's RBI single got the Huskies (15-7) on the board in the first and they quickly jumped to a 6-0 lead with five runs in the second to upset West Delaware (21-5).
Briley Acton led off the second with a double and scored on Jena Young's second double of the game. Another run scored on an error, then Drake brought in another run with a single and Ava Lowden hit a two-run homer. Winterset totaled 13 hits in the game.
The Hawks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't fight all the way back.

No. 8 Dallas Center-Grimes 7, No. 3 Fairfield 5
DCG (20-9) held off multiple late-inning rallies from Fairfield (24-2) to advance to the Class 4A semifinals. The Trojans scored three runs in the fifth to get within 6-5 thanks in part to three walks but left runners on second and third with no outs as Lani Gannon got two strikeouts and a flyout. Gannon induced a two-out groundout as Fairfield left two on in the sixth, then Riley Hall got two outs on fielder's choice grounders and a lineout to leave two more runners stranded in the seventh.
Molly Cooney was 2-for-3 with a bases-clearing double in the fourth that gave the Fillies a 4-2 lead.
CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Albia 12, Creston 0 (4 innings)
Albia (20-1) scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the first Class 3A quarterfinal early. Alex Beard hit a two-run double, Jena Lawrence followed with a run-scoring single, Lauren Bayer added a two-RBI double, Danica Workman brought in another run with a double and Mackenna Jones wrapped it up with a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Dees totaled 17 hits to Creston's (13-6) two. Lawrence and Workman were both 3-for-3. Workman had two doubles.
No. 5 Mount Vernon 7, No. 4 Humboldt 4
Up 2-1 in the sixth, Mount Vernon (21-4) got out of a jam with a one-out fielder's choice play at the plate and a groundout to end the inning, then broke the game open in the seventh.
Nicole Sullivan hit a grand slam to center to make it 6-1 Mustangs, then Maddy Morrical — who hit a two-run double in the first — doubled and scored on Lauren Ryan's single. The Wildcats tacked on three runs with two outs in the seventh, but the game ended with a courtesy runner tagged out at second after a two-RBI single from Kendal Clark.
