The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with an investigation into a shots fired incident that happened Monday, Oct. 24.

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Tuesday after Cedar Rapids police responded to a shots fired call in the 300 block of Jacolyn Drive SW.

At the scene, police found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. They provided emergency medical aid until an ambulance arrived and transported the man to a hospital, where he died.

It was the second shooting in as many days for the city.

Shortly after the shooting in southwest Cedar Rapids, a juvenile male showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment for a wound.

Incident happened on Interstate 380 midday Tuesday. Investigators say a manpointed the gun at a vehicle with two adults and two kids inside and fired the gun twice. One of the bullets struck the front end of the car, police said. No one was injured.

Soon after police arrived at the scene, a victim with a single gunshot would to the shoulder arrived at a hospital by private vehicle.

Iowa City police said surveillance footage shows Alajuwon S. Johnson Sr. firing a gun at a person as they're running away from him near the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street.

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested and jailed Sunday on suspicion of robbery after he entered a home with a loaded handgun, demanding marijuana from the residents, according to a Linn County criminal complaint.

Juan Cavazos was not hit by gunfire, but suffered injuries when he subsequently crashed the vehicle in rural Kossuth County, police said.

Police said 18-year-old Timothy D. Christmas fired at least seven shots at a vehicle that was occupied by three people. The criminal complaint does not specify whether anyone was injured.

Police said witnesses reported seeing a “young male” walking on J Street SW when two individuals got out of a vehicle, fired several rounds at him, then got back into the vehicle and fled.

Police said Jose Florentino Ramirez Landin suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Iowa City Police said Dupree Savon Thompson, 23, of North Liberty, fired a gun during an altercation in an alleyway near the 100 block of South Clinton Street in the early morning hours of April 4 then fled the area.

Police responded to multiple calls of shot fired in the 1500 block of C Avenue early Friday. One person received a gunshot wound but refused treatment. No arrests made.
