The Solon girls’ cross country team won the Bob Brown Invitational in a tiebreaker over Monticello, while the Marion boys topped a loaded field that included 11 ranked teams.

Here are five Gazette area teams that crushed the first week of the 2022 Iowa high school volleyball season, including defending 4A state champion Western Dubuque.

Marion’s Jedidiah Osgood set another personal-best winning the Prairie Invitational cross country meet in 15:46.

After graduating 14 seniors from last year’s roster, including their leading passer, three leading rushers and two top receivers, there were questions as to who would step up for the 2022 Clear Creek Amana Clippers. Consider those questions answered in a 26-0 win over Marion.
