The 2020 Iowa high school boys' state basketball tournament tipped off Monday with seven quarterfinal games at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Monday's boys' state basketball scores
CLASS 1A QUARTERFINALS
No. 7 Montezuma 75, No. 10 Martensdale-St. Marys 50
Montezuma ended the third quarter on a 23-4 run to advance to the state semifinals for the second straight year. Martensdale-St. Marys trailed 30-27 at halftime and tied it at 32 early in the third before Masin and Trey Shearer scored 10 straight points to help the Braves (24-2) pull away.
Trey Shearer finished with a game-high 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting. Masin Shearer added 10 points. Eddie Burgess was 6 for 7 from the floor and totaled 19 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Brayden Arendt added 13 points.
Six-foot-10 forward Isaac Gavin scored 10 first-half points for the Blue Devils (23-4), but had just two in the second half.

Wapsie Valley 49, No. 8 Lake Mills 45
Wapsie Valley (19-7) led for most of the second half as it knocked off top-seeded Lake Mills (23-3).
Lake Mills, which was averaging 71.1 points per game, stayed close and went up 42-41 on a Bennett Berger 3 with 5:03 remaining. Kobe Risse gave the Warriors the lead back on the next possession, then Gunner Meyer buried a 3-pointer 45 seconds later and the Warriors, who were a No. 4-seed in their district, held on to advance.
Meyer scored a game-high 19 points, making 3 of 5 3-point attempts. Kiks Rosengarten added 16 points and nine rebounds for Wapsie. Chett Helming had 14 points for the Bulldogs, Dashawn Linnen scored 11 and Caleb Bacon contributed 10 points and 14 boards.

No. 4 Algona Garrigan 55, Springville 52
Springville led 25-22 at halftime and for much of the second half, but the Golden Bears (23-2) rallied to take a 50-48 lead on John Joyce's layup with just over three minutes left. Rhenden Wagaman tied it, then Angelo Winkel gave Garrigan the lead for good with 2:33 to go.
Alex Koppes was fouled on an inbounds play with 15.3 seconds left and the Orioles (20-6) down 53-52, but the front end of a one-and-one bounced off the front of the rim. After a Winkel offensive rebound of his own free-throw miss and two Joyce free throws, Winkel blocked Bryce Wilson's 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Winkel picked up his fourth foul with 5:27 remaining in the third quarter and Springville immediately went on a 17-4 run to go up 44-36. Winkel returned late in the third and avoided fouling out to lead the Garrigan comeback, finishing with 22 points on 10-for-14 shooting and 14 rebounds.
Koppes paced Springville with 21 points.

No. 5 West Fork 55, No. 5 Remsen St. Mary's 53
Brayden Vold flipped in a shot in the lane off an inbounds pass to send West Fork (24-2) to the state semifinals.
St. Mary's (22-4) had just 0.6 seconds for a response and couldn't get off a desperation heave after multiple timeouts.
Jakob Washington had 12 points for the Warhawks, while Ian Latham and Kayden Ames each scored 10. Spencer Schorg led the Hawks with 19.

CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 2 North Linn 56, No. 5 West Sioux 51
Austin Miller's two free throws with 43 seconds left gave North Linn a 50-48 lead and the defending champion Lynx (25-0) held on to return to the state semifinals. Kaleb Kurt stole the ensuing inbounds pass, Miller rebounded Kurt's miss and Austin Hilmer made two free throws to make it a four-point game.
Miller finished with 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting and 13 rebounds. He was 6 of 7 at the line. Hilmer added 19 points, including a pair of free throws to go up five with 7.9 seconds remaining. Those two scored North Linn's final 34 points.
Bryce Coppock and Kade Lynott each had 12 points for West Sioux (22-3) before fouling out. The Falcons led 39-38 entering the fourth quarter after trailing 26-25 at halftime.

No. 1 Treynor 69, Pella Christian 53
Jack Tiarks put up 21 points, including a pair of dunks, and grabbed nine rebounds and Jack Stogdill added 20 and seven to lead top-ranked Treynor (25-1) to the semifinals.
The Cardinals made 7 of 14 3-point attempts and steadily pulled away, leading 11-9 after the first quarter, 34-27 at halftime and 52-42 entering the fourth. Luke Mieska scored 14 points and contributed five assists.
Pella Christian's last lead was 17-16 midway through the second. Jack Vermeer had 14 points and Dan Jungling scored 12 for the Eagles (13-11). Keean Cadwell added 11.
No. 8 Boyden-Hull 57, Woodward-Granger 26
Top-seeded Boyden-Hull (22-3) limited Woodward-Granger (22-3) to 20.8-percent shooting (10-48) in a dominant win.
The Comets, last year's 2A runners-up, led 18-7 after the first quarter and 27-11 at halftime. Keyton Moser posted 17 points and 14 rebounds, Andre Frick scored 11 points and Tanner Te Slaa had 10 points, seven boards and three blocks.
Nick Buch led the Hawks with eight points and seven rebounds.
