Nichole Shaw
Nichole Shaw is a 2021 honors graduate of the University of Iowa, where she studied journalism and English on the publishing track with a keen interest in issues of social and racial justice, particularly as it concerned diversity, equity and inclusion. She is the editor of Off-Kilter Media and a general assignment reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times, in addition to her work as Gazette fellow. She has worked at The New York Times, The Daily Iowan, Fools Magazine, VERVE Magazine, the National Association of Black Journalists’ NURU, Quill and Scroll, Public Space One/the Center for Afrofuturist Studies, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at UI. In all these positions, her mission has been to tell the stories of voices that often go unheard or ignored.
