Trading Grounds Coffee in Marion is opening this week ahead of a grand opening on Saturday at 917 Barrington Parkway, Suite B. The new coffee shop transformed the space in the MAC Express building previously home to a health club.

The Sea Chanters chorus frequently is found at the center of high-profile national events. The group performs for the president, vice president, and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries. Saturday’s 7 p.m. performance is free and open to the public.

This year, the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day will be held in conjunction with Marion’s City Showcase. From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, there will be dozens of free, hands-on activities for the entire family to enjoy at the Marion YMCA & Community Rec Center, 3740 Irish Dr.

The Marion City Council will likely vote in May to extend the deal though fiscal 2023 to give the city more time to figure out the details of what the future of its public transportation could look like.
