A significant overhaul of tax policy and mental health funding is in the works in the Iowa Legislature, as Republicans appear to have finally reached agreement on myriad funding streams and policies.
“As with all bills, there are things that are good and there are things you may not think are good or you could do a better job on. My caucus has tried to take a bill and make it better,” Rep. John Forbes, D-Urbandale, said.
“As I've said before, just because it doesn't look like there's not activity going on here that doesn't mean things aren’t getting done,” Rep. Pat Grassley said in a virtual news conference.
“Iowans deserve to know who is writing their laws, and we will immediately be filing open records requests to get to the bottom of this,” said Matt Sinovic, executive director of Progress Iowa.
