Bus started to ease congestion during Interstate reconstruction has proven itself

The massive reconstruction of the interchange is entering the fifth year of work ahead of schedule and with another milestone expected by Labor Day. Plus, organizations working to secure future funding for the 380 Express bus service.

Iowa lawmakers once again are moving forward a bill that would restrict the ability of cities to use traffic enforcement cameras along state interstates and highways.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is adding adult changing rooms to four interstate rest areas this year. Each room has an adult-size changing table that can be raised and lowered with a remote control so caregivers can safely change the clothes of a dependent child or adult.

The Iowa DOT will hold a public hearing from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday on its project to widen Interstate 380 and rebuild the interchange with Wright Brothers Boulevard.

As a result of congressional approval of the bipartisan infrastructure package, Iowa DOT officials expect the five-year highway program to grow from $3.6 billion to about $4 billion.

A 29-year-old La Porte City man, who was seriously injured Monday in a rollover wreck on U.S. Highway 30 near Interstate 380 has died. Two other passengers were injured.
