CEDAR RAPIDS — A 42-year-old Hiawatha man faces multiple charges after a high-speed chase Tuesday through northeast Cedar Rapids and Marion ended with a crash.
According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:15 a.m. deputies noticed a vehicle on Interstate 380 North that resembled a vehicle Cedar Rapids police were looking for. Deputies said the vehicle was going more than 100 mph.
They attempted to pull it over, but the vehicle exited the interstate at Blairs Ferry Road NE and turned south onto Rockwell Drive NE toward Collins Road NE.

The vehicle then went east on Collins Road and continued on to Highway 100, then headed north on South 22nd Street in Marion.
The pursuit neared its end at South 22nd Street and Pleasant View Drive when the suspect vehicle side-swiped two vehicles traveling on South 22nd Street and left the road, driving through yards in the 2500 block of Pleasant View Drive in Marion.
Deputies said the vehicle struck a mailbox and landscaping rocks before getting back on Pleasant View Road and coming to a stop back at South 22nd Street.
Jonathan P. Soucie was taken into custody and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash. After his release, he’ll be taken to the Linn County Correctional Center, deputies said.
He was the only person in the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.
Soucie faces multiple charges, including attempting to elude, reckless driving, hit and run, and driving while suspended, as well as other traffic offenses.
