Senior Cole Green got the nod despite not playing at all his junior season and only going out this season because he anticipated being his team’s kicker. He rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown, threw two TD passes, kicked five extra points and a field goal Thursday night at Kingston Stadium.

The first 10th graders to attend Washington High School in 1957 are celebrating their 65th high school reunion this month. The class wrote the school’s inaugural student government charter, school fight song and alma mater. They also established the school’s newspaper, which continues publishing today, and they chose the school’s colors.

First, it was about an hour delay for lightning. Second, it was a lightning-quick blitz from Cedar Rapids Jefferson, resulting in two double-digit leads before the first quarter.
