Here is The Gazette’s third installment of area high school boys wrestling individual rankings for the 2025-26 season.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its first installment of the state dual rankings Tuesday. Southeast Polk (3A), Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (2A) and Don Bosco (1A) are ranked No. 1. Solon duo claim titles at Fort Madison Invitational.

Event for Iowa high schools, colleges and universities was Dec. 3-5, 2025, in Des Moines.

Joe Hirsch placed fifth at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament last season. He entered this season with high expectations and is known for being all gas and no brakes. Hirsch opened the season in dominant fashion helping the Bobcats to a 46-34 win over Cedar Rapids Xavier.

Liberty places second in Class III competition

Cedar Rapids Xavier and Iowa City Regina play for titles in Class 3A and Class 1A, respectively.

Cedar Rapids Xavier and Newton face off in a Class 4A Iowa high school football playoff semifinal at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. It is one of four games Thursday.

North Linn’s football team limited Pekin to 45 total yards Friday night, and Will Sommerfelt threw three touchdown passes in a 21-3 road win in a Class A playoff second-rounder. That moves NL to the quarterfinals for only the fourth time in school history, with a trip to the UNI-Dome and the semifinals for the first time ever on the line this coming Friday night against top-ranked Saint Ansgar.
