Iowa’s men’s wrestling team welcomes three All-America transfers, who could solidify the No. 2-ranked Hawkeyes. They will join a lineup with NCAA finalist Drake Ayala, All-Americans Nelson Brands and Michael Caliendo and young talents Gabe Arnold, Ben Kueter and Ryder Block.

After his final college season and a brief showing at the 2023 U.S. Open, Lee took a break from wrestling and traveled to Japan. He visited Tokyo and other places in the country, attempting to get the sport off his mind. He came back determined to compete and will contend for an Olympic gold, starting Thursday.

Wrestling began Monday but Spencer Lee will compete Thursday at 125.5 pounds (57 kilograms) in men’s freestyle at the Olympic Games in Paris. Lee is the 20th Hawkeye wrestler to wrestle in the Olympics.

Ben Kueter beat No. 29 Bennet Tabor, 5-3, in the final match of No. 3 Iowa’s 22-9 victory over No. 10 Minnesota in a Big Ten dual action Monday night. Fans stood waiting for the Hawkeyes’ heavyweight to be announced for his debut. They erupted when Kueter emerged from the smoke at the end of the tunnel.
