After knocking out Class 1A 12th-ranked Maquoketa, 3-1, in the regional quarterfinals on May 21, the Solon girls’ soccer team kept its season alive — and momentum high — with a 3-2 semifinal win over Iowa City Regina on Wednesday night.

Thanks to stellar defense and some late-game “magic,” Linn-Mar advanced past Des Moines North, 2-0, at home Tuesday in a Class 4A substate 2 boys’ soccer semifinal.
