Raising Cane’s plans are back on for a new Cedar Rapids location

CEDAR RAPIDS — Plans for a new Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers location in Cedar Rapids are back on.

A representative for the chicken fingers chain, which opened a Coralville location in April, said construction work has started. The site at 230 Collins Rd. NE was approved for a new building permit by the City of Cedar Rapids on July 20.

Raising Cane’s has slated this second Corridor location for a late December opening.

The address is the same one where Raising Cane’s previously planned to open in the fall of 2021. As the Coralville location made more noticeable progress, a Raising Cane’s representative told The Gazette in November 2021 that the chain would be looking for a new site in Cedar Rapids “due to some changes.”

The new location will be company-owned. Previously, reporting indicated that the new location would be owned by Nebraska-based franchisee Southern Hospitality Ventures.
