Chicken finger chain to open in early 2022, looking for future location in Cedar Rapids

Local Kentucky Fried Chicken locations are getting some competition in the “finger licking” department as Raising Cane’s comes to Coralville.
Raising Cane’s has been constructing a new location at 2800 Commerce Dr., between Wendy’s and Casey’s. A representative for the popular chicken finger chain confirmed the new location will open during the first few months of 2022.
Russell Ford, a representative for Raising Cane’s, said they hope to announce the opening date soon.
The new location will be the first Raising Cane’s in the Corridor after a location previously planned in Cedar Rapids fell through. Franchisee Southern Hospitality Ventures planned to open at 230 Collins Rd. NE by fall 2021. That location was previously home to Ryan’s Family Steakhouse.
The Lincoln, Neb., based franchisee owns and operates locations in Altoona, Cedar Falls, Davenport and West Des Moines.
Ford said that “due to some changes, Cane’s is looking for a new site to open their first Cedar Rapids area restaurant.”
