The Iowa Attorney General’s Office issued a report Friday concluding that a fatal officer-involved shooting in Tama County in July, in which a man told police to shoot him while threatening them with an airsoft gun that looked real, was justified.
Aaron T. Rich, 22, had stolen a gun from southwest side store on Aug. 5 shortly before leading police on a chase in Cedar Rapids, police said. The chase ended with Rich being shot following a pursuit, in which he allegedly pointed a gun at officers.
The fatal shooting of a Linn County man by law enforcement officers during a traffic stop near Cascade in Dubuque County last month was justified, according to a report issued Friday by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
The shooting happened following a pursuit which ended in the 1200 block of 15th St. SE around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday. The Iowa Division of Investigation will continue to investigate the incident.
