CEDAR RAPIDS - A woman hit by a car Wednesday night has been cited by police and the driver of the car faces a citation, as well.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said first responders were called to Collins Road and Northland Avenue around 9:44 p.m. after Bonnie Schliemann, 60, was hit by a car driven by Jacqueline Kimm, 21. Schliemann was hospitalized following the crash.
Schliemann was cited for crossing at other than a crosswalk for entering an unmarked crosswalk and failing to yield to the right of way to the vehicles on Collins Road that had a green light, Buelow said. Kimm was charged with having no insurance.
Buelow said Schliemann was reportedly panhandling at the intersection before the collision.
