One of the Fairfield teens charged with killing their Spanish teacher is asking a judge to ban the public, including media, from a hearing later this month. The hearing is for a reverse waiver, in which the teens are asking the court to move their cases to juvenile court.

The trial for Alexander Jackson, accused of fatally shooting his parents and sister last June, will not go in April. It will be bumped out, possibly past the one year anniversary of the fatal shootings. His lawyers also plan to ask for a change of venue.

A Davenport woman has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old Illinois girl. The woman is accused of helping the shooter, Marshawn Jackson, flee to a Davenport motel after the shooting last July.

Christian Emedi was sentenced to 15 years in prison and Marshawn Jeffries was sentenced to five years. Emedi was the actual shooter. Jeffries had a gun at the party and threatened others.

It’s rare that teens and young adults commit murder, but four young Iowans are awaiting trial for just that. Two young men are charged with killing their families in Cedar Rapids, and two others charged in the death of their teacher in Fairfield.
