Saints are favored to win another title as team tournament starts 2-day run in Pella

Coming off their first win of the year last Thursday at Davenport Central, the Lions looked even more impressive on Friday night against Pleasant Valley.

This time, it is boys’ tennis that will see change. Beginning this spring, only the top 32 teams in each class will qualify for postseason team play and doubles matches will be contested first with singles to follow.

For the second time in five months, the Saints will be sending their entire team to the Class 1A state singles and doubles tournament after sweeping the titles and runner-up slots at the rain-delayed regional tournament at Grinnell on Thursday.

Regional singles and doubles are first step to state tournaments in October

With the fall season debut, all three ranked programs will host every step of the regional bracket on their road to the Oct. 6-7 state tournament.
