West, which last won a title in 2020, held off Linn-Mar to take the title with 224 points in a thrilling meet at the UI Campus Recreation and Wellness Center pool. The Lions scored 220 points to post the best finish in school history.

Cedar Falls, Iowa City West and Linn-Mar are the top three ranked teams. Any one of the three could take home the team title. Defending champion Dubuque Hempstead is ranked eight and Cedar Rapids Washington is 10th.

As a young swimmer, Durin's goal was to become an Olympic-level talent. He swam for the late Chris Cruise at Cedar Rapids Washington from 2015-18 before swimming collegiately at Colorado Mesa University from 2019-2022.
