All-conference baseball teams from Gazette-area conferences in 2024.

The postseason begins at the end of this week for Class 1A and 2A schools. The bigger schools still have conference and some playoff primers on the slate. Dubuque Wahlert at Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Marion at Central DeWitt are among the highlighted Iowa high school baseball games in Week 8.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy began this week with a 20-1 record, propelling it to the top of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A rankings released Monday. Kennedy has made a steady climb after starting at fifth in the preseason poll.

CPU opened the season 9-0 and cracked the third installment of the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A rankings released Monday. The Stormin’ Pointers debut at No. 10 after receiving votes last week.

Linn-Mar has jumped to a 7-2 start and ascended to ninth in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A rankings. Linn-Mar is one of four Metro programs and one of six Mississippi Valley Conference teams included in the latest poll.

The state golf tournaments for all four classes will be held May 23-24. Cedar Rapids Washington and Linn-Mar advance to the Class 4A state meet at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. Cedar Rapids Xavier qualified for the 3A championships at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls.

Western Dubuque has won the last two Class 3A state titles. The Bobcats start the 2024 season atop the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association preseason rankings.
