Matthew 25 has developed a Manufactured Home Disaster Recovery Playbook as a resource that can be used throughout the U.S. to help residents living in manufactured homes recover from natural disasters like the 2020 derecho.
With aging housing stock throughout Iowa, Matthew 25’s initiative is one step toward keeping residential units in good shape and on the market at a time when demand for housing is high but supply is insufficient to support a growing population.
The Cedar Rapids nonprofit was chosen as one of 5 organizations across the country to receive a total of $150,000.
Volunteers to take on more than 20 neighborhood projects
The $1 million Cultivate Hope Corner Store, operated by nonprofit Matthew 25 at 604 Ellis Blvd. NW, has opened with a focus on reduced-cost, healthy food in Time Check. Its mission is to educate residents on nutrition and promote food access.
Matthew 25 will receive the 2021 Organization of Character Award from the The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University.
