Matthew 25’s annual Transform Week starts today

CEDAR RAPIDS — More than 200 volunteers will come together to help their neighbors today through Friday as Matthew 25 hosts the 7th Annual Transform Week. The week focuses on homeowners in the Taylor and Time Check neighborhoods who need a little support on repairs and maintenance.
“Research shows that the conditions where we work, live and play have significant effects on our well-being,” says Matthew 25 Executive Director Clint Twedt-Ball. “When homes are in disrepair, homeowners are more likely to develop asthma, fall ill from lead paint, are at greater risks for falls, and beyond. Transform Week is about creating healthier homes, healthier people, and healthier neighborhoods.”
This year, volunteers will be tackling more than 20 projects, including a bathroom repair, painting, flooring, roofing, siding, replacing windows and doors, plumbing repair, rebuilding stairs and porches, landscaping and rebuilding fences. Transform allows low-income homeowners to receive home repair and maintenance at no cost to them thanks to volunteer work, sponsorships, and grants.
