Woman arrested for Mercy Hospital Clinic threats, new ownership of former Lindale Mall Sears

A Dallas-based investment company, Reserve Development, has bought the former Sears property at Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids. The purchase price and redevelopment plans have not yet been disclosed.

Lindale Mall, previously owned by Washington Prime Group, was sold in March for $28.5 million to a New York mall investor, Kohan Retail Investment Group. City leaders and some mall tenants are optimistic about the future, but Kohan has a history of legal troubles with its other properties.

Washington Prime Group’s chief executive officer said the bankruptcy allows the company to “right-size its balance sheet.”
