Luke Sigwarth allowed just one run in five innings, nearly doubling his season total, Luke Schieltz had three hits and three RBIs and No. 3 Beckman pulled away for a 7-1 victory over No. 5 Underwood for the Class 1A state championship Friday at Merchants Park. The title is Beckman’s seventh and first since 2017.

Lisbon’s special run has come to an end. No. 3 Remsen St. Mary’s stopped No. 9 Lisbon, 7-4, to capture the Class 1A state baseball championship Friday afternoon at Merchants Park. The Hawks won their fifth state title and first since 2016.

Dyersville Beckman exploded for five runs in the first inning and built an eight-run lead through three innings. The Blazers tallied 11 hits and trounced West Lyon, 11-2, in a Class 2A state baseball semifinal Thursday night at Merchants Park in Carroll.

Underwood’s Jack Vanfossan stymied Cascade batters and the Eagles’ leadoff batter Mason Boothby accounted for two runs in a 3-1 victory over the No. 7 Cougars in a Class 2A state baseball semifinal Thursday at Merchants Park in Carroll.

Lisbon scored twice in the top of the seventh to beat second-ranked Kingsley-Pierson, 5-3, in the Class 1A state baseball semifinals Wednesday night at Merchants Park in Carroll. The Lions reach the title game for the first time since 2018.

Williamsburg toppled two ranked teams to reach the Class 2A state baseball tournament in Carroll. Fifth-ranked and second-seeded Underwood stopped the streak with a 7-2 lead.
