Residents of the Forest View Mobile Home Court in Iowa City were promised new homes after years of discussion and negotiation. But the development is no longer moving forward. Living conditions at the mobile home park have deteriorated, and the owner says the park will not survive another winter.

The Iowa City Council’s meeting on April 19 will be the first at Emma Harvat Hall at City Hall in more than two years.

Each of the three projects — 21 S. Linn St., 315 E. Prentiss, 12 E. Court St. — have a “fairly long history with the city,” City Manager Geoff Fruin said. Two of the projects appear to be moving forward, with another planning when it would be best to proceed.

Four routes will have adjustments of one to four minutes from current arrival times starting Monday. Adjusting the arrival times will help transit drivers arrive at all destinations on time, the city said.

The Iowa City Council this month unanimously approved installation of a new playground and removal of the old one on the Ped Mall. The goal is to finish the work by July 1.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors approved a $25,000 grant agreement with the Friends of Coralville Lake to be used toward a preliminary action plan and feasibility study to explore solutions to increasing sedimentation that eventually could close the lake to recreation.

The Cedar Rapids-based ImOn is working to have the fiber network available to all residences and businesses in Iowa City by the end of 2022. Another 3,200 resident addresses were added, the company announced.

Bermel, a real estate agent, will serve the term on North Liberty City Council through the end of 2023.

North Liberty voters will elect a new council member on March 15 during a special election. The three candidates running are Robert Strickland, Samantha Gulick and Ashley Bermel.

City Manager Geoff Fruin has selected Scott Lyon as the city’s next fire chief. The appointment goes to the Civil Service Commission and City Council for confirmation.
