The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released their first-ever official boys’ basketball rankings. Your top-ranked teams are Cedar Rapids Xavier in Class 3A, Waukee Northwest in 4A, Central Lyon in 2A and Grand View Christian in 1A.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association announced Thursday it will create weekly boys’ basketball for the first time this season. The rankings will be used to help create postseason brackets.
The pool of registered high school football officials in Iowa climbed to 1,259 before Friday’s Week 0 games. The total is still about 90 fewer than the 2021 season.
Iowa became the 15th state to allow high school athletes to earn monetary compensation for their name, image and likeness.
The Solon boys’ golf team is making consecutive state tournament appearances for the first time under Coach Adam Stahle. The Spartans are hoping to improve their runner-up finish in 2021.
House File 2416 would require any Iowa schools that get public funding to designate sports programs as open to biological females, open to biological males or coeducational. A similar bill awaits action in the Senate.
Tickets went on sale at noon today at IHSAA website
All athletes will be allowed 2 spectator tickets, which would probably mean 4,200-5,400 inside Drake Stadium per session
