Iowa vs. Baylor: NCAA Tournament final score, stats, highlights

No. 1-seed Baylor ended a special season for the Iowa women's basketball team Monday night in Greensboro, N.C.

The Bears upended the No. 2-seed Hawkeyes 85-53 in the Greensboro Region final of the NCAA women's basketball tournament and advance to the Final Four this weekend in Tampa, Fla.

Turning point: It was made apparent quickly that Baylor is the No. 1 team in the country, and Iowa isn't at that level. Kathleen Doyle's steal and layup tied it at 11, but the Bears responded with a 10-2 run to end the first quarter. Baylor's lead stretched to 41-27 at halftime and the Hawkeyes got only as close as eight in the second half.

MVP: Kalani Brown got most of the headlines coming into the game, but the other half of Baylor's dominant post duo stole the show Monday night. Lauren Cox, a fellow All-American, totaled 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two blocks. She was 10 of 16 from the field to lead four Bears in double figures.

Key stat: 9-39. Iowa star Megan Gustafson was off by her lofty standards, making 9 of 17 shots and finishing with 23 points and nine rebounds. But worse, Iowa's supporting cast could not get anything going against the best defense in the country. The rest of the Hawkeyes were 9 of 39 (23.1%) from the field, including 3 for 10 from 3-point range. Gustafson did become the fourth player in NCAA Division I history to score at least 1,000 points in a season.
