One of the most anticipated seasons in Iowa men's basketball history came to an abrupt ending Monday in Indianapolis, as No. 7-seed Oregon blasted the No. 2-seed Hawkeyes, 95-80, in an NCAA men's basketball tournament second-round game.
Iowa finishes the season with a 22-9 record. Oregon (21-6) moves on to the Sweet 16 to face either Kansas or USC.

Final: Oregon 95, Iowa 80
MVP: Oregon's Chris Duarte lived up to his AP Pac-12 MVP award with 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting, seven assists and two steals. Iowa didn't have a way to stop his ability to get to the basket and make plays for himself and others. Luka Garza did his part for the Hawkeyes, with 36 points on 14-for-20 shooting and nine rebounds.
Key stat: 63-0. Oregon starting guards Duarte, L.J. Figueroa and Will Richardson combined to score 63 points on 28-for-36 shooting. They did it with athleticism by driving for uncontested layups and dunks and with 3-point shooting (combined 9-for-16, including Figueroa's 5-for-9). Joe Wieskamp scored 17 points for Iowa, but the other starting guards (C.J. Fredrick, Connor McCaffery and Jordan Bohannon) were scoreless.
6:42 2nd: Oregon 84, Iowa 66
Luka Garza is up to 30 points on 12-for-17 shooting and eight rebounds, but there is no sign that Iowa is going to get enough stops or enough 3s to have a chance to come back.
11:50 2nd: Oregon 75, Iowa 57
Oregon exploded with an 8-0 run, continuing to get wide-open looks all over the floor — and knocking them down.
Eugene Omoruyi and L.J. Figueroa made 3s, then Omoruyi led a 3-on-0 break after an Iowa miss for a dunk.
The Ducks at this point were shooting 56.9 percent, including 9-of-18 from 3-point range.
Iowa still can't get much offense from its starting backcourt, but even Luka Garza was quieted in the second half's first 8:10, with only two points. Blowout territory.
14:40 2nd: Oregon 67, Iowa 57
A Joe Wieskamp dunk in transition off an Oregon miss cut the lead to 10, but he appeared to roll his ankle on the next possession and left the game.
Wieskamp was the only Iowa starting guard to score in the game's first 25:20, with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
17:44 2nd: Oregon 65, Iowa 51
The second half started with a similar theme. Oregon's guards got into the paint and got easy looks.
Iowa called timeout after dunks from L.J. Figueroa on a cut and Chris Duarte after a Figueroa steal.

Half: Oregon 56, Iowa 46
A key stretch at the end of the first half: Luka Garza missed two free throws, then Tony Perkins fouled Chris Duarte on a 3-point attempt with 0.7 seconds left. Duarte made 2 of 3 to give the Ducks a 10-point lead at the half.
Garza scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting, but the story of the first half was the starting backcourts.
Duarte, L.J. Figueroa and Will Richardson combined for 39 points on 14-for-16 shooting, including 6-of-7 from deep. Joe Wieskamp scored seven points and had five assists for Iowa, but C.J. Fredrick, Connor McCaffery and Jordan Bohannon were all scoreless.
The Ducks shot 59.5 percent overall, including 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. Iowa kept pace for the most part with 51.5-percent shooting but was only 3-of-11 from 3-point distance.

L.J. Figueroa knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to break a 46-46 tie. In all, it's a 14-4 run for the Ducks to go up six in the final minute of the half.
At this point, Oregon was shooting 58.3 percent from the field, including 7-of-14 from 3-point distance. First to 100 wins?

Luka Garza converted another three-point play giving him 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting.
A smaller Oregon team simply doesn't have an answer for him inside.

Oregon took a 30-24 lead, but Iowa responded with a 9-2 run, keyed by big plays from reserve guards. First, Tony Perkins drilled a 3-pointer from the corner, then Joe Toussaint hit a step-back, and-one jumper, drawing the second foul on Ducks star Chris Duarte (12 points, 5-6 FG).
Will Richardson, who made his first four shots for 11 poitns, banked in a 3 to restore Oregon's lead, but Toussaint came up big again, leaping for an offensive rebound and putback to tie it up.
The Hawkeyes got 15 points off the bench to Oregon's zero in the game's first 13:44.

The Ducks were able to get to the rim almost at will in the opening eight minutes, leading to a number of uncontested layups. But Keegan Murray started to make a difference by swatting a way a Eugene Omoruyi shot after the Rutgers transfer hit his first two attempts.
Patrick McCaffery also gave the Hawkeyes something different by getting behind the defense after a Ducks make for an answering layup.
Oregon's largest lead was 17-13 after an Eric Williams 3.
14:51 1st: Oregon 12, Iowa 11
Oregon's Will Richardson and Iowa's Luka Garza both converted a pair of three-point plays in the early going.
Garza made his first three shots, including an and-one putback, and two free throws as he scored eight of the Hawkeyes' first 11 points, but picked up an offensive foul trying to create space, leading to a media timeout.
Both teams were cold from 3-point range to start. Oregon was 0-for-3, Iowa 1-for-5 (Joe Wieskamp had the only make for Iowa's first points).

Preview
A spot in the NCAA men's basketball Sweet 16 — where Iowa hasn't been since 1999 — is on the line Monday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the No. 2-seed Iowa Hawkeyes (22-8) face the No. 7-seed Oregon Ducks (20-6).
Iowa is coming off an 86-74 win over No. 15-seed Grand Canyon in the first round. All-American Luka Garza scored a game-high 24 points and found some added motivation from Iowa wrestling three-time NCAA champion Spencer Lee.
The bench played a key role for Iowa on Saturday as well, particularly freshman Keegan Murray, who totaled 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four blocks. Another effort like that would be big against an athletic Oregon team.
The Pac-12 champion Ducks are actually playing their first game of the tournament Monday. They advanced due to COVID-19 issues with No. 10-seed VCU forcing a cancellation of that game and the Rams being removed from the tournament.
