After 24 years at Cedar Rapids Kennedy, including 16 as the athletics director, Aaron Stecker will leave in June to become a director and “AD in Residence” for Bound, a digital platform based around high school activities.
There are four classifications in Iowa high school boys’ soccer for the first time this season, meaning an additional eight state tournament qualifiers for a total of 32. Tuesday, the substate brackets to determine those 32 qualifiers were released by the IHSAA.

The junior and the younger of the speedy Swartzendruber twins, Sidney Swartzendruber blazed from behind Friday morning at Drake Stadium to give Cedar Rapids Kennedy its first Drake Relays girls’ championship in 31 years.
Former Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout Mya Dodge is a big reason why UNI leads the MVC softball standings with a 20-1 record. She leads the MVC in batting average, slugging percentage and runs batted in.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy went 9-9 last year, but the Cougars started 6-0 before Tuesday’s overtime loss to Iowa City High and are ranked No. 1 in Class 4A.
