Iowa girls' state basketball 2021: Wednesday's scores, stats, game replays and more

The 2021 Iowa high school girls' state basketball tournament continued Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines with the last six quarterfinal games.

Wednesday's girls' state basketball scores
CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 2 Dike-New Hartford 44, No. 10 Treynor 36
Treynor (21-4) gave unbeaten Dike-New Hartford a major challenge, leading 21-17 at halftime, but the Wolverines (24-0) used a 17-5 third quarter to pull ahead.
A 7-0 run on four straight steals got the Cardinals within 40-36 with 1:34 left but DNH came up with back-to-back steals of its own to put it away.
Ellary Knock led the way with 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Payton Peterson totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds. Mandy Stogdill knocked down four 3s and scored a game-high 16 points for Treynor.
No. 3 West Branch 49, No. 8 Grundy Center 33
West Branch (21-1) earned its first state tournament victory in its fourth appearance. It led 25-11 at halftime after a 16-5 second quarter.
The Bears were 7-of-15 from 3-point range, with four of the makes coming from Sasha Koenig. She scored a game-high 16 points and also had seven rebounds and six assists. Teammate Delaynie Luneckas had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Bailey Reding matched Koenig with four 3s and 16 points for Grundy Center (19-4).

CLASS 1A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Algona Garrigan 48, No. 8 Springville 42
Audi Crooks scored 25 points on 12-for-13 shooting and Algona Garrigan survived (24-1) an upset bid from Springville (21-5) in the opening 1A game.
Hannah March's layup gave Springville a 31-29 lead with 3:17 left in the third quarter, but Garrigan got a pair of inside baskets in the last minute to go up 37-33 and led the rest of the way, though it was by no means comfortable.
Crooks also had 10 rebounds and blocked six shots while battling foul trouble. Molly Joyce hit 8 of 10 free throws and added 13 points, but Garrigan shot just 11.8 percent (2-for-17) from 3-point range.
Lauren Wilson led Springville with 13 points, nine boards and four assists.

No. 4 Exira-EHK 60, No. 5 Marcus MMCRU 55
Exira-EHK (24-0) took a 52-49 lead on Quinn Grubbs' 3-pointer with 3:17 left and hung on to stay unbeaten.
Grubbs led the Spartans, who trailed 45-43 entering the fourth, with a game-high 25 points, including a pair of 3s. Shay Burmeister added 14.
Emily Dreckman scored 20 points for MMCRU (21-3).
No. 2 Newell-Fonda 88, No. 7 Kingsley-Pierson 47
High-powered Newell-Fonda raced to a 31-15 lead after the first quarter and was up 60-24 at halftime.
The Mustangs (24-1) had 20 steals and forced 26 turnovers in all. They shot 57.4 percent from the field, including 10 of 24 from 3-point range.
Ella Larsen led four Newell-Fonda players in double figures with 19 points. She was 7 of 8 from the field and also had nine rebounds and five steals. Macy Sievers added 15 points, six assists and six steals. Bailey Sievers and Mary Walker both scored 13.
Kingsley-Pierson (23-2) was led by Delaney Iseminger with 17 points.
No. 6 Montezuma 50, No. 3 Saint Ansgar 45
Elise Boulton scored 29 points, making 4-of-7 3-pointers and 8-of-10 free throws as Montezuma (23-1) overcame 27.3-percent shooting from the field to advance.
The Bravettes made up for their field-goal woes with a 21-for-24 performance at the line. Saint Ansgar (22-2) attempted and made just two free throws.
Montezuma led 27-20 at halftime, but Saint Ansgar rallied to take a 34-32 lead after three. A 10-0 run in the fourth, starting with four Boulton free throws, gave Monte a 44-36 advantage.
Shanae Wetering added 10 points for the Bravettes, making 7-of-8 free throws. Hali Anderson led the Saints with 19 points.
