IOWA CITY - The second suspect in a June robbery outside of a downtown bank has been arrested, police said.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, 19-year-old Terry Madison, a transient, faces one count of second-degree robbery in connection with an incident that occurred on June 12.
Police said a woman carrying a bank bag was leaving the downtown branch of MidWestOne bank around 10:30 a.m. when she was attacked by two men, alleged to be Madison and 24-year-old Darryl M. Henry.
Henry is accused of pushing the woman and grabbing the bank bag before fleeing with Madison. Police said Henry dropped the bag, but Madison picked it up and the men fled in opposite directions.
Officers spotted Henry a few minutes after the robbery and he was caught after a short foot chase. He allegedly admitted to his role in the robbery, but refused to give up Madison. However, police said Henry later identified Madison in an interview at the jail.
The North Liberty Police Department also wanted Madison on charged related to another incident. Police said on April 18, 2014, Madison stole an Amazon package containing a PlayStation gaming console and accessories valued at more than $500 from a door step in North Liberty. Madison also allegedly entered the home through an unlocked back door and stole an Xbox 360 gaming system and HP computer. For those incidents, he faces charges of second-degree burglary and third-degree theft.
The robbery and burglary charges are Class C felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison each. Third-degree theft is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
According to court records, Henry - who was also charged with second-degree robbery - entered a guilty plea in his case and will be sentenced on Nov. 16.
