Iowa high school tennis 2024 regional and substate brackets released
Girls’ regional begin May 10, boys’ substate on May 11

Linn-Mar, Iowa City West and Cedar Rapids Washington have drawn No. 1 seeds for the Class 2A boys’ team substate tournaments and will host quarterfinal and semifinal round matches.
The first and second round duals will be on May 11 beginning at 9 a.m. The top two seeds in each substate will host. Each host receives a bye and plays the winner of the 9 a.m. matches in the semifinals approximately 12:30 p.m.
The substate finals are set for May 15 at the highest remaining seeded team's home court, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
No. 2 Linn-Mar is the favorite in Substate 4. Coach Chris Wundram's team is the only ranked unit in the six-team field where North Scott is seeded second. No. 4 Iowa City West, the two-time defending state champion, is the top seed in Substate 6 where Ottumwa is No. 2.
No. 6 Cedar Rapids Washington tops the Substate 3 field. Johnston is the No. 2 seed.
In Class 1A, Cedar Rapids Xavier (Substate 5) and Decorah (Substate 3) are top seeds and will host two quarterfinals followed by a semifinal on May 11.
The state team tournament is scheduled for May 30-31 at Waukee Northwest High School (2A) and the Hawkeye Recreation and Tennis Center in Iowa City (1A).

Girls’ tennis regional pairings
Top-ranked Xavier will begin its quest to win its first Class 1A girls’ state tennis title since 2021, hosting Maquoketa next Friday morning at 9 a.m. in a Region 3 quarterfinal
Regional team play in 1A continues with semifinal matches on Friday with the regional finals set for May 14. State quarterfinals will be at 10 a.m. on May 18 at home sites.
The unbeaten Saints, behind top-ranked singles player Gabi Fleming and senior Avery Link, are heavy favorites to regain the title. No. 5 Decorah and No. 3 DeWitt Central headline the Region 4 field.
In Class 2A Region 3, No. 4 Iowa City Liberty received a bye and will host on May 14 against the winner of next Saturday’s Cedar Rapids Prairie-Cedar Rapids Washington match. No. 9 Linn-Mar also has a bye and will meet the Marion-Cedar Rapids Kennedy winner in Clinton on May 14.
No. 9 Iowa City West also got a bye until May 14, hosting the winner of next Saturday's Ottumwa-Burlington match in Region 4.
Regional semifinal matches begin at 9 a.m. on May 14 with regional finals to follow. State quarterfinal matches will be at 10 a.m. on May 18 at home sites.
The state semifinals and finals are set for May 29 with 1A at Byrnes Park in Waterloo and 2A at Waukee Northwest High School.
