Raising Cane’s planning new downtown Iowa City location

Mar. 5, 2024 7:35 am
IOWA CITY — The Corridor is set to see its third Raising Cane’s location opened in about as many years.
Renovation is underway at an Old Capitol Town Center space, 201 S. Clinton St., for the chicken finger chain growing rapidly in Iowa. Building permits have been issued by the City of Iowa City to renovate the street-facing unit 142, which formerly was home to Panera Bread.
An opening date for the new location has not been announced. A few of the permits issued for the new restaurant expire between May and July. Job listings seeking an assistant manager for the new location, previously online in February, have since been taken down.
The location follows a Coralville opening in April 2022 and a Cedar Rapids opening in March 2023. The chain has more than 700 locations across the country.
Former tenant Panera Bread closed in October 2021.
