Raising Cane’s opening in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS — After much anticipation, Raising Cane’s is opening its first Cedar Rapids location on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
The new location, across from Lindale Mall at 230 Collins Rd. NE, finally is complete after being approved for building permits in July. The Cedar Rapids site is Raising Cane’s second in the Corridor, after opening in Coralville in April 2022.
The chicken finger chain making a splash with rapid Iowa expansions previously planned to open the Cedar Rapids location in the fall of 2021 before a pause in plans. The opening is part of the chain’s growth, with 100 new restaurants planned for several markets this year, bringing a total that approaches 700 restaurants in more than 35 states and Guam.
The grand opening in Cedar Rapids includes a ribbon cutting, prize drawings and giveaways starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Opening day will be kicked off with a “Lucky 20” drawing where 20 customers over age 13 can win free Raising Cane’s food for a year. Entries will be accepted between 8 and 9 a.m., with winners announced shortly thereafter. Customers must be present to win.
Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell and Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance members will attend the ribbon cutting at 9 a.m., where Raising Cane’s will present a check to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.
The first 100 customers to purchase a box combo will receive a limited edition Raising Cane’s T-shirt. DJ Riley Mulane will entertain those waiting in line as Coe College cheer and dance teams, as well as Cedar Rapids Rough Riders mascot Ricochet, make appearances throughout the day.
The new location will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight daily.
