Torch Kitchen Company owner reopens new cafe in Anamosa

Aug. 30, 2023 6:15 am
ANAMOSA — The owner of the former Torch Kitchen Company has opened a new cafe in Anamosa, several months after teasing plans for his “next big project.”
After he closed Torch at NewBo City Market in March, Chef Kyle Kilburg announced plans for the bistro-style Terrace Cafe at Thou Art Gallery on Main Street.
The new cafe, opened in early August, serves cold-cut and toasted sandwiches, signature macaroni and cheese options, fresh salads, charcuterie boards, cheesecakes, snacks and a variety of seasonal specials like soups for fall.
Kilburg also announced that Torch Kitchen Company will likely not return — at least not in the format it had before.
“I feel that its life was (in a good way) bound to its roots in the NewBo City Market,” he said. “I also believe this to be true with my fully running food truck ideas down the road.”
Those looking for a taste of Torch’s bison cheeseburger sliders or hodgepodge fries have hope to do so at some point in the future through his food truck enterprise, he said.
Kilburg also had a heavy hand in forming the menu at Market at the Tap, a speakeasy restaurant and bar that opened earlier this year in Monticello.
