Torch Kitchen Company closes in NewBo City Market

CEDAR RAPIDS — Torch Kitchen Company has announced plans to close at NewBo City Market, 1100 Third St. SE. Its last day there will be Sunday, March 26.
“Our thanks goes out to the NewBo City Market for allowing us a place to change from a simple idea into a growing thing,” the owners said in a social media post. “Torch Kitchen Co. is currently working on its next big project, so stay tuned for more details.”
Hinting at another new iteration for the business, the owners said they plan to continue with catering and private events. Co-owner Kyle Kilburg previously told The Gazette of plans for a food truck that were halted before opening in NewBo City Market.
Torch, owned by brothers Kyle and Kevin Kilburg, opened alongside a flurry of other new businesses in NewBo in June 2021. The booth serves “bite-sized crave cuisine,” including bison cheeseburger sliders, fried dumplings and fries with dipping sauces.
