Iowa adds 76 new COVID-19 cases
The state confirmed four deaths from the virus Saturday.
Iowa added 76 new cases of COVID-19 and four confirmed deaths due to the coronavirus for the 24-hour period ending at noon on Saturday, according to Iowa Department of Public Health data and as analyzed by The Gazette.
The state has added an average of 85 cases each day over the past seven days.
Vaccinations
Statewide, 1,442,615 Iowans are fully vaccinated against the virus, 53.90 percent of those 12 and older.
In Linn County, 117,695 residents have been fully vaccinated, 65.23 percent of those 16 and older.
In Johnson County, 87,097 residents are fully vaccinated, 70.06 percent of those 16 and older.
New Cases
For the 24-hour period ending at noon Saturday, Linn County added seven new cases of the virus. In total, there have been 21,298 cases of the virus in the county. The seven-day average of new cases reported in Linn County is five.
Johnson County subtracted two cases from its positive count Saturday. There have been 14,647 cases of the virus in the county, and the current seven-day average of cases is two.
Statewide, there have been 374,114 positive cases of the virus.
Deaths
The state added four new confirmed deaths on Saturday, all occurring in June. One death was in an individual older than 80, two among those 61-80, and 1 in an individual between 41-60, according to the state’s data.
Hospitalizations
There are currently 74 patients in Iowa hospitalized due to the virus, up from 73 on Friday.
There currently are 19 patients in intensive care units, and 11 on ventilators.
Long-term care outbreaks
According to the state’s data, there is one long-term care facility experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.
There are nine individuals with positive cases of the virus connected to long-term care facilities, down 12 from Friday.
The state subtracted one death connected to a long-term care facility from its data Saturday. In total, 2,373 individuals connected to long-term care facilities have died of the virus.
