State track and field, Class 2A boys Friday: Williamsburg won two events on the second day, the 800-meter relay and the high jump with Derek Weisskopf.

State track and field, Class 1A girls: Kennedy Axmear made English Valleys history with the school’s first Drake Relays title. At state, only Iowa State women’s basketball commit Audi Crooks beat the sophomore in the discus.

Boys’ state track and field, Class 1A boys Friday: Lisbon got season bests from Luke Czarnecki in the high jump and the distance medley relay team, plus a runner-up finish from Kole Becker in the 400 hurdles.

State track and field, Class 4A girls: Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Gabby Cortez was moved out of two relays and into two others . The experiement paid off as the Hawks take the lead into Saturday’s final push.

State track and field, Class 4A boys: Iowa City High’s distance-medley win was worth flipping for. The Little Hawks moved into first place in the team standings.
