Boede Rahe has overcome adversity to become an ace for Kirkwood’s baseball team. He pitched a complete game for his sixth victory of the season in the Eagles’ 13-3 win in six innings over Northeast (Neb.) Community College.
Cal Sullivan has emerged as a leader on and off the baseball diamond for Kirkwood. He leads the Eagles in multiple offensive categories and is reaping the rewards of his hard work. He had five hits, including two home runs, in a home doubleheader sweep of Iowa Lakes on Friday.
Drew Proskovec was in search of more opportunities to compete, so he took a gamble on himself, leaving University of Iowa for Kirkwood. The move has paid dividends. He improved 3-0 this season, helping the Eagles to a doubleheader sweep over Iowa Lakes Tuesday at home.
Kirkwood sophomore Miles Risley has parlayed hard work into gaudy statistics for the Kirkwood baseball team. He belted a three-run home run to cap Kirkwood’s 13-1 victory in five innings against Southwestern Community College on Wednesday at home.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy all-state baseball player Dylan Davis will officially cap his prep career this weekend at the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Series in Mason City.
The Kirkwood Community College baseball team is back for a second straight year in the NJCAA Division II World Series in Oklahoma. The Eagles won two games in 2021 and hope to do more damage this time around.
Chase Moseley spent the last two seasons with Kirkwood. After a semester at Mount Mercy, he opted to return to the Eagles for one more semester available from the canceled 2020 season. He has served as a leader for the fifth-ranked Eagles.

The Eagles rallied with a six-run inning to defeat Northeast (Neb.), 10-2, in seven innings. They will face Iowa Central in the Region XI tournament final.
Fitzgerald provided a spark for the Eagles, tallying two hits, including a double and two-run home run, three runs, two RBIs and two defensive gems in a 13-4 regional win over DMACC.
Kirkwood pitcher Luke Llewellyn packed on 30 to 40 pounds, added velocity to his fastball and has helped the Eagles to a 36-19 record, entering Thursday’s regional tournament play.
