The fast-growing Johnson County town of Tiffin is moving closer to finalizing plans for a new recreation center. A series of public meetings will be held to gather input on the plans, which tentatively include an indoor track, exercise equipment and basektball courts that would double as space for volleyball and pickleball.

Echoing continuing care retirement communities it’s developed in Marion, Ames, Altoona, Grimes, and West Des Moines since 2011, a Kansas-based senior living developer is planning another new retirement village in Iowa – this one in its fastest-growing City of Tiffin.

The city of Tiffin and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office are working toward full-time law enforcement coverage for the quickly growing city through a new agreement that began this month.

The entertainment center, which will include an IMAX theater and arcade, was announced in 2022.

One person was killed in a fire at a town house in Tiffin Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say they seized a pound of cocaine and six firearms.

PinSeekers, which opened last week in Tiffin, is a year-round hybrid-golf and entertainment facility. It uses TopTracer technology, which offers advanced golf ball-tracking tools.
