North Scott puts a chill on Western Dubuque at Rivalry Saturday

Bobcats shoot 25 percent in 58-34 loss

CEDAR RAPIDS — North Scott is 2-for-Cedar Rapids.

Even without Rylie Rucker, the Class 4A second-ranked Lancers were able to post their second convincing victory in less than a week. They popped No. 6 Western Dubuque, 58-34, in a Rivalry Saturday girls’ basketball contest Saturday night at Kohawk Arena.

It was impressive, maybe even more so than their 66-42 win at Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Tuesday. Especially without Rucker, who sprained an MCL in her knee Tuesday and will be out another week or two.

Both teams were chilly early, but North Scott heated up dramatically after intermission. The Lancers hit all eight of their field-goal attempts in the third quarter.

Leading by just six points at intermission, North Scott broke it open with an 18-3 run to start the second half.

Presley Case hit a pair of 3-pointers in the decisive surge and Samantha Scott and Brooke Corson also converted from deep.

Western Dubuque (1-1), meanwhile, never warmed up and finished 9 of 36 from the floor. And that includes a combined 8-for-12 from Kacey Eimers and Emma Baumhover, who scored 14 and 10 points respectively.

Grace Boffeli paced North Scott with 22 points and eight rebounds.
