Iowa boys' state basketball 2021: Tuesday's scores, stats, game replays and more

The 2021 Iowa high school boys' state basketball tournament continued Tuesday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines with six more quarterfinal games on the schedule.

CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 3 Des Moines Christian 58, Dyersville Beckman 38
Des Moines Christian trailed 19-18 at halftime but outscored Beckman 18-4 in the third quarter to take control of the first game of the day.
Adam Witty led the way with a game-high 20 points for the Lions (22-2), making 5-of-6 shots from the field and 9-of-10 free throws. Elijah Hess was 8-for-9 from the stripe and scored 14 points. Ben Loverude added 12.
Jack Gehling had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Beckman (16-8), which shot 36.8 percent.

No. 6 Western Christian 71, Camanche 55
Second-seeded Western Christian shot 64 percent in the first half while forcing 10 turnovers as it took a 44-28 lead at the break and cruised to the semifinals.
The Wolfpack (20-5) scored 26 points in the second quarter, extending what was an 18-13 lead after one. Wyatt Gulker scored a game-high 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, while Ty Van Essen was 7-of-10 from the floor (2-of-3 from 3) and totaled 18 points. Gulker also had five steals.
Jordan Lawrence led Camanche (18-7) with 17 points.
CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Ballard 68, No. 9 Clear Lake 45
Top-ranked Ballard shot 50.7 percent, including 8-of-17 from 3-point range and rolled past Clear Lake (22-3) in the opening Class 3A game.
The Bombers (24-1) ended the first quarter on a 16-0 run to go up 23-11 and the Lions never got back within single digits.
Ashton Hermann led three Bombers in double-figures scoring with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while also grabbing four steals. He and Mason Murphy were both 2-for-3 from 3-point distance. Murphy had 14 points and nine assists. Connor Drew put up 12 points and nine rebounds.
Clear Lake's Carson Toebe scored a game-high 22 points.
No. 10 Davenport Assumption 56, No. 4 Dallas Center-Grimes 42
Texas signee Emarion Ellis piled up 25 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead the Knights (19-6) to the 3A semifinals.
Assumption led just 33-29 at halftime but limited Dallas Center-Grimes (20-14) to 13 points in the second half. J.J. Stratman added 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting off the bench for the Knights.
Luke Rankin led the Mustangs with 13 points and five assists.
Sergeant Bluff-Luton 38, No. 7 Western Dubuque 37 (OT)
Jake Layman made two free throws with 22.9 seconds remaining, the last of his game-high 17 points giving Sergeant Bluff-Luton a 38-37 lead it held onto for the win.
Dylan Johnson's shot in the lane rimmed out on the other end and Andrew Oltmanns' follow bounced off the rim. The Warriors (17-7) were then able to run out the clock after a baseball pass to the other end.
Oltmanns had 14 points and six rebounds for Western Dubuque (18-5), while Johnson scored 13. Garrett Baumhover's free throw gave the Bobcats a 37-36 lead with 35 seconds left in OT.
The game went to overtime tied at 34 after the Warriors scored five straight points, including Nick Muller's game-tying 3 from the corner with 1:20 remaining.

No. 5 Pella 59, No. 2 Monticello 46
The Panthers (22-1) took their first loss of the season in Tuesday's nightcap.
Monticello rallied from 15 down to get within three late in the third quarter and early in the fourth, but Pella (23-2) answered with a 7-0 run, then an 8-0 burst highlighted by a one-handed Parker Elder dunk after Monticello cut it back to four.
The Dutch scored the first eight points of the game and led 15-5 after the first quarter, but Monti, a Class 2A state qualifier last season, settled in and made it a battle.
Pella's Grant Nelson and Monticello's Justin Recker both scored 18 points. Noah Allen added 14 for the Dutch off the bench.
