November gambling on professional and college sports — an activity that became legal in Iowa in August 2019 — pushed the wagering handle above $975 million for the current fiscal year and put Iowa within reach of $2 billion in betting for the calendar year.
Iowa’s football team is 9-2. Nebraska’s is 3-8. Yet, the Hawkeyes opened as a 4-point underdogs to the Huskers in the opening college football lines posted Sunday by the Circa Resport and Casino in downtown Las Vegas.
The significant October surge – aided by five weekends of professional and college football during the month – brought year-to-date wagering to $689.3 million for the current fiscal year that began July 1.
The European-based sportsbook operator plans to launch its mobile app in Iowa in the fourth quarter of 2021.
