The Iowa high school girls’ state soccer tournament will be held Tuesday (quarterfinals), Thursday (semifinals) and Saturday (finals) at Iowa State University.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will take place at Lied Recreational Fields on the ISU campus, with championship matches at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
Here is a look at the four Gazette-area teams that qualified.
Class 3A
Seventh-ranked Linn-Mar (15-3) is the No. 7-seed and draws No. 2 West Des Moines Valley (15-2-2), the 2-seed, in the quarterfinals at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
This marks the Lions’ third straight state appearance. They’re led by senior Abi Roberts, a North Dakota State University soccer commit, who’s tied for second in 3A with 38 goals.
As a team, Linn-Mar leads 3A in goals (93) and assists (69).
Class 2A
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday between third-seeded No. 4 Cedar Rapids Xavier (7-3-4) and No. 11 Bondurant-Farrar (8-5-5), the 6-seed.
The Saints return to state for the second consecutive year. Juniors Macie Herting (a 2024 first-team all-state selection) and Anya Zeutenhorst share the team lead with 8 goals each.
Senior Maleigh Olmstead, a second-team all-stater last season, is another key contributor for the Saints.
Fourth-seeded Independence (16-2-1), ranked No. 5, plays fifth-seeded No. 9 ADM (9-6-1) at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
University of Northern Iowa commit Addison Lange leads the Mustangs with 27 goals — good for eighth-best in 2A. Independence ranks seventh in the class with 77 goals scored.
This is Independence’s first state tournament appearance.
Class 1A
Ninth-ranked Center Point-Urbana (15-1-2) is back at state for the first time since 2022.
The Stormin’ Pointers are the 7-seed and take on second-seeded No. 2 Bishop Heelan (17-2) at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
