The 2022 Iowa State football season is rife with uncertainty for head coach Matt Campbell and the Cyclones — and he’s facing it with alacrity rather than anxiety.

State track and field, Class 2A girls Saturday: Mid-Prairie scored 65 points while becoming the first 2A girls’ team to win four state titles in a row since Tipton did it from 2004-07.

State track and field, Class 2A boys Saturday: Williamsburg won the 4x100 relay after claiming the 4x200 the day before.

State track and field, Class 1A boys Saturday: Lisbon star Kole Becker sustained an ankle injury early in the week, which hindered his performance, but didn’t diminish his drive to succeed. He showed that trademark competitiveness, racing to a title in the 110-meter hurdles.

Boys’ state track and field, Class 1A boys Friday: Lisbon got season bests from Luke Czarnecki in the high jump and the distance medley relay team, plus a runner-up finish from Kole Becker in the 400 hurdles.

State track and field, Class 2A boys Thursday: Tipton’s 3,200-meter relay team won the state title for the first time since stringing three championships in a row from 2000-02.

State track and field, Class 2A girls Thursday: Mid-Prairie standout Danielle Hostetler won her second straight title in the 3,000 and Mitzi Evans became the school’s first 400 champion.

Alburnett’s Lacey Neighbor injured her right knee in the state-qualifying meet, but still notched a second-place finish in the Class 1A girls’ long jump at the state track and field championships.

Lisbon’s Kole Becker nearly matched a state record as he repeated as the Class 1A boys’ long jump champion at the state track and field championships. The Lions are in the team lead after the first day.

Iowa State announced Wednesday the signing of three transfer football players. The headliner is redshirt senior Dimitri Stanley, who caught 70 passes for 830 yards and four touchdowns for Colorado.
