The recent Clear Creek Amana High School graduate, 18, made it look easy as she belted Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” in front of the judges at the 64th Annual Bill Riley Talent Search Competition. But the path to finding her voice hasn’t always been a chain of successes over the last several years.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, a former Iowa Democratic governor, held an “Investing in America” town hall Thursday in North Liberty where he highlighted efforts by President Joe Biden’s administration to create additional income opportunities for producers and entrepreneurs.

Construction begins on Penn Meadows Park basketball court, which will feature Mega Slam hoops. The hoops have glass backboards and are built to be durable to allow for dunking and hanging on the rim.

The cameras are meant to detect stolen cars and vehicles tied to wanted suspects or people in distress.

An explosion in a commercial building in North Liberty Monday night resulted in multiple people injured, including a firefighter that responded to the scene, according to a news release from the City of North Liberty.
