CEDAR RAPIDS - A woman is facing life-threatening injuries after being shot Wednesday, authorities said.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Beulow said police were called to the 1300 block of L Avenue NE around 4:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Police believe a red vehicle was somehow involved.
Ten minutes later, a woman was brought to St. Luke's Hospital in a red vehicle, Buelow said. The woman, who is in her 20s, was suffering from a gunshot wound. Her injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Buelow said.
Police believe the injured woman and the shots fired report are related and that the vehicle in which the woman was transported to the hospital could be the same one involved in the shooting. Buelow said police are trying to determine where the shots on L Avenue were fired from and they have questioned several people, including the man who brought the woman to the hospital.
The shooting remains under investigation, Buelow said.
