WILLIAMSBURG - A Williamsburg man accused of killing a child will remain in custody on a $1 million cash bond.
Cody J. Stevenson, 29, made his initial appearance Wednesday in Iowa County District Court. He faces one count of first-degree murder, a Class A felony punishable by life in prison, for the death of the child. The child has not been identified in court records.
According to a criminal complaint, Stevenson hit the child 'at least 3 to 4 times” in the abdominal area with a closed fist on June 30.
Court records show Stevenson also has been ordered to not have contact with another minor child.
Stevenson's next court date has not been set, according to court records.
