FAIRFAX - A Walford woman was killed and another driver was hurt in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 151 in Fairfax Tuesday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a sport-utility vehicle driven by Terri Lynn Skalsky, 49, of Walford was northbound on Highway 151 at Prairie Drive, on the northern edge of Fairfax, at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday when the SUV crossed the centerline and struck an SUV driven by Hannah R. Looney, 22, of Shellsburg. A pickup driven by Kyle Fisher, 29, of Cedar Rapids swerved to miss Looney's vehicle and hit the passenger side of Skalsky's vehicle. The vehicles driven by Looney and Skalsky came to rest in the northbound lane of Highway 151, while Fisher's pickup came to rest in the southbound lane.
Skalsky was killed in the crash, the state patrol said. Looney was injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office, Fairfax Fire Department and Linn County Medical Examiner's Office also responded to the crash.
Law enforcement vehicles block Highway 151 in Fairfax to set up a detour around the scene of a three-vehicle crash. One person died and another suffered serious injuries, according to Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner. (Dave Franzman/KCRG-TV9)
